Types Of Waves
1. A wave is a disturbance that travels through a medium due to repeated periodic motion of particles about their mean postion
2.Velocity V of a wave of frequency \(n\) and wavelength \(\lambda\) is \(\boxed {V=n\lambda}\)
| Transverse waves | Longitudinal waves |
|
If the particles of the medium vibrate parallel to the direction of propagation of waves ,then the waves are called transverse . Example : Light waves and waves in a stretched string |

If the particles of the medium vibrate parallel to the direction of propagation of waves then the waves are called logitudinal Example :Sound waves |
